First Public Consultation
Study Area & Constraints
Westmeath County Council in conjunction with Longford County Council invite the residents of the local area, members of the public and interested parties to participate in a public consultation on the Study Area and Constraints for the project.
Due to the measures taken in light of the Covid-19 outbreak, it is not possible to arrange a formal event with you in the local area at this time. Instead a brochure containing information about the project has been produced to facilitate participation in the consultation which is available to download here.
A questionnaire has also been produced which provides an opportunity to have your say on the project.
Alternatively, the questionnaire is available to download here. The closing date for returning completed questionnaires is Friday 26th June 2020.
Once the Covid-19 restrictions are relaxed, maps of the study area will also be available for viewing by appointment in the dedicated project office located in Lough Sheever Corporate Park in Mullingar, click here for contact details.
What’s Happening Now?
Westmeath County Council have recently commissioned a technical engineering consulting design team, ROD-AECOM, to progress the project development. ROD-AECOM has defined a study and are in the process of identifying artificial and natural constraints within this area, as well as external parameters. For further details refer to the Publications Tab.
During the development of this project we will hold a number of stages of non-statutory public consultation. These consultations may be a combination of public information events and/or publication of elements of the scheme electronically for comment. This first non-statutory public consultation is seeking your feedback on the study area and the constraints within it.
In line with Article 6(3) of the Aarhus Convention, we have prepared a Project Consultation Roadmap, that outlines each stage of non-statutory public consultation, which can be viewed below.
